CHEVY SILVERADO HYBRID

The 2009 Chevy Silverado Two-Mode Hybrid (limited availability starting late fall 2008) is expected to provide the same dependability, power and performance you demand in a Chevy truck. In addition, it's expected to feature cutting edge technology to help you through the rigors of your everyday life while being conscious of the environment.

In the first mode, at low speed and light load, the vehicle can operate in three ways; electric power, engine power, or in any combination of electric and engine power.  When operating with electric power, it provides all the efficiency of a full hybrid system. 

The second mode is used primarily at highway speeds to optimize efficiency.  It provides electric assist in addition to four-cylinder or full eight-cylinder power when conditions demand it, such as trailer towing and climbing steep grades.  Putting it another way, you'll experience the benefit of excellent efficiency while also having access to plenty of horsepower and torque.

In either mode, it's a truck that works in the real world when being driven by real people and is one of the many ways Chevy is working to produce a variety of fuel solutions.

2009 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid -                                                           

Starting at $22,790, the Malibu Hybrid employs a 2.4-liter Ecotec VVT four-cylinder engine in concert with nickel metal hydride batteries and a 36-volt motor/generator unit to produce a total of 164 hp and 159 lb-ft. of torque. Power is channeled through a 4T45 four-speed transmission, and the system is designed to shut down the engine when the vehicle is stopped, use regenerative braking to charge the batteries, then restart when the brake pedal is released. Hybrid-specific instrumentation and badges externally differentiate this from other Malibus, with the hybrid version's fuel economy rates at 24/32 city/highway.

The powertrain is covered with a five-year, 100,000-mile warranty, while the NiMH battery pack and other key hybrid components receive eight-year coverage at the same mileage. It may not make a radical leap in fuel economy, but with a $1500 hybrid tax credit in place and improved driving dynamics that make it comparable to the Accord and Camry, GM's Malibu Hybrid should be competitive in an import-dominated landscape. -Basem Wasef

Malibu offers a 6 speed transmission mated to our great Ecotec 4-cyclinger engine, neither Camry, Accord, Altima, Fusion or Sonata offers the powertrain combination.

When equipped with the 4-cylinder/6 speed powertrain combination, Malibu delivers a segment leading 33 highway mpg.  2009 AVEO 5-NEWLY DESIGNED
 

The Chevrolet Aveo5 is the five-door hatchback version of the Aveo Sedan. Much like the Aveo Sedan, the Aveo5 represents one of Chevrolet's most efficient and affordable vehicles. A whole new model was unveiled for 2009.

The redesigned economy car delivers 26 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway and is expected to be the lowest-priced car in America when it goes on sale in 2008.

Power comes from a new 1.6 liter DOHC engine with variable valve timing that produces more power 107 hp and 106 pound-feet of torque. It has a range of over 400 miles on a single tank of gas.

Best in class cargo are capacity in segment of 42 cubic feet.  More than Yaris at 26, Kio at 12, Versa at 14, Suzuki at 14, Tied Honda Fit at 42.  Just fold the rear seats down and you can fit 4 foot sheets of plywood.

While the exterior of the Aveo5 is similar to the previous generation, the interior is completely new and is actually quite surprising for the price point. The Aveo's interior is well appointed and has the feel of a much more expensive car. Fit and finish are much improved and virtually all interior surfaces seem to be of high quality materials. The use of silver accents within the cabin really gives gives the Aveo a sporty and upscale look. Because of the upgrades, GM hopes the new car will make a big impact in the sub-compact market. 2009 CORVETTE
