Finding ways to get the most out of every drop of fuel???
Chevrolet has been pushing the limits of fuel efficiency for years so you can be confident your vehicle is getting the most out of every drop of fuel. From XFE and Eco models, to hybrids(4) and an electric vehicle with a range-extending gas generator(5), we've explored various options to find the ones best suited for your life. But we won't stop there.
We're committed to finding and developing new solutions every day to meet the growing demand for better fuel economy without ever sacrificing performance. Because in the end, we're committed to you and the life you're leading. CHECK OUT WHAT CHEVY HAS TO OFFER IN FUEL EFFICIENT VEHICLES.....
With rising gas prices putting a dent in family budgets, it's good to know that there are easy tips that can help you save a little at the pump. Fueleconomy.gov suggests things like properly inflating your tires, avoiding idling for long periods, and trying to limit use of air conditioning when you're driving under 40 mph.
But if you're in the market for a new vehicle, you want to choose one that fits your needs and provides great fuel economy. Chevrolet is proud to have 10 vehicles that offer an EPA-estimated 30 MPG HWY or better1, and others that are leading their class in fuel economy.
Want to go even farther? Chevy has 4 models offering 40 MPG HWY or better.1 Cruze Eco. Sonic Sedan and Hatchback (both with available 1.4L turbocharged engine and 6-speed manual transmission). Then there's Volt, in a category all by itself.
The "Chevrolet Volt" has been named the most fuel efficient car of all time by the Environmental Protection Agency.
On a list that excludes pure electric vehicles, the 60 MPG combined Volt beat the 53 MPG first generation Honda Insight and current 50 MPG Prius for top honors. Chevy’s Sprint ER from 1986 and the 1989 Geo Metro rounded out the top five at 48 MPG and 47 MPG, respectively.
Unlike the Prius and Insight, the plug-in Volt operates as an electric car for 35 miles before its gasoline engine starts up to generate power for the electric motors and provide torque to help propel the car.
***LET'S WORK TOGETHER....
When you say "Carbon", what do you mean? We are using carbon as shorthand for greehouse gases. They are measured in C02 equivalents.
We realize we share the planet with everyone. We want to do more to help keep it clean. So, now, when you BUY a Chevrolet, we will invest in renewable-energy, energy efficiency programs and planting trees in communities across America.
When completed over the next few years, these projects will reduce carbon by up to 8 million metric tons. This is just a start, a first step, We hope you will join us.....
**AN APPROACH TO THE ENVIRONMENT**
AS AMBITIOUS AS OUR CARS!
Adding to the environment by subtracting CO2
What do you call the reduction of up to 8 million metric tons of carbon dioxide(1) from the air? We call it a start. By investing up to $40 million in various programs and initiatives, these efforts will eventually be on par with the annual CO2-reducing effects of a forest the size of Yellowstone National Park(2). And that's just another reason that today, tomorrow and on into the better future we can proudly say Chevy Runs Deep.
Investing in the future
To help reach the goal of reducing 8 million metric tons of carbon dioxide over the next few years, Chevrolet will be enlisting the help of the Bonneville Environmental Foundation and the Climate Neutral Business Network with environmental initiatives such as:
Supporting new wind farms and solar projects
Capturing methane from landfills and using it for energy
Contributing to forestry projects throughout America
By devoting up to $40 million and partnering with these organizations, Chevrolet is ensuring their investment will have the most impact.
Chevrolet vehicles are using and producing less fuel and CO2, respectively, and the plants where those cars come from are becoming more efficient as well:
Manufacturing emissions have decreased by 60% since 1990
Water use has decreased by 35% from 2005-2009
Plants are using less fossil fuel and using more landfill gas, hydro and solar power
90% of waste is recycled
More than half the plants globally are landfill-free facilities
These initiatives are a positive first step, but they're far from being the last.
THE ENVIRONMENT AND YOUR COMMUTE: CAN'T WE ALL JUST GET ALONG?
Making a difference in our environment starts with driving a more fuel-efficient vehicle. That's why we use advanced technologies like Variable Valve Timing, six-speed transmissions and Active Fuel Management to make every Chevrolet vehicle as efficient as possible. We offer many models with 30 mpg hwy or better including Aveo5 with an EPA estimated 35 mpg hwy and Malibu with an EPA estimated 33 mpg hwy.
WHY PUMP FOR FUEL WHEN YOU CAN GROW IT?
For the past ten years, Chevrolet has been producing vehicles capable of running on a biofuel that grows primarily from the earth. E85 ethanol is a mostly renewable fuel source made from U.S.-grown grain products. In the future, E85 will be made increasingly from agriculture, forest and municipal waste. E85 biofuel burns cleaner than gasoline and can help decrease our dependence on petroleum. E85 biofuel consists of 85% ethanol, 15% gasoline and generally has a higher octane rating than gasoline, which can result in slightly higher horsepower and torque levels. There are more than 2.5 million E85 FlexFuel Chevrolet vehicles on the road today, and Chevrolet offers more E85 FlexFuel-capable vehicle choices than any other brand. Availability of E85 ethanol varies by state at more than 1,900 stations across the country
Chevrolet offers hybrids that fit the way you live..
Hybrid technology has come a long way since the first model was introduced. The latest incarnations, full-sized trucks and SUVs, like the Chevrolet Tahoe hybrid and Silverado hybrid (at participating dealers only) just happen to have the same city fuel economy as a VW Beetle(2). This is a result of Chevrolet engineers meticulously designing every hybrid to perform at the highest level possible. The exclusive two-mode hybrid technology delivers the best performance and efficiency Chevrolet has to offer in a hybrid vehicle.
THE BEST EMISSIONS STRATEGY IS A ZERO-EMISSIONS STRATEGY.
The Equinox Fuel Cell market test (not available for sale) is exploring more sustainable technology that can help reduce our dependence on petroleum, without sacrificing performance.
It's not news that fossil fuels aren't renewable, so Chevrolet took it upon itself to lead the charge using cleaner fuel which can be produced from renewable energy sources.
Project Driveway was a three-city, real-world test program powered by Chevrolet's fourth-generation hydrogen fuel cell technology. This test program proved that zero tailpipe emissions and clean burning technology is close.
